3. IS COMPETITIVE SHOOTING AVAILABLE ?

We participate in county, inter-county and local leagues in all disciplines both for teams and individuals and actively encourage members to compete. However, it is very much up to individuals’ personal choice. Some competitions are run on a handicap basis offering the chance of success to all levels of ability. Throughout the year there are competitions organised at ranges all over the region and it is an opportunity to shoot at different ranges. These are either club run, or County Association Open shoots and we actively encourage members to take advantage to further their experience and competitiveness.

4. IS THE RANGE OPEN TO ALL ?

There are very few limitations however we have a minimum starting age of 10yrs old and all junior members under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. We welcome all abilities irrespective of experience so don’t be afraid to give it a go!

We can provide basic club level coaching for those requiring it in all disciplines.

Our range is not completely accessible for those with a physical disability however we will do everything we can to make it possible.

5. I’M INTERESTED, WHAT NEXT ?

We welcome new prospective members on a Thursday evening from 7pm to receive an introduction to the club and for us to get to know a little about you and what you want to achieve from being a member. There will be an obligatory run-through our safety procedures, this being a requirement of our registration as a Home Office approved rifle club.

If air gun is your chosen discipline, then you will likely have the
opportunity to have a shoot on your first attendance. If rimfire rifles (.22) are your chosen discipline, then you will get the opportunity to shoot on your second attendance at the club.

6. HOW CAN I BECOME A MEMBER ?

We are bound by the regulations laid down by the Home Office and of Avon & Somerset Constabulary. Please read the information on the legals page regarding Section 21 of the Firearms Act 1968 and if you satisfy those requirements then use the contact us page to arrange a visit. You will then, if appropriate be asked to complete a membership application form. This will be submitted to Avon & Somerset Constabulary by our club secretary for clearance following which new applicants are granted probationary membership.

Once a probationary member has completed their 3-month period and has a satisfactory attendance record, they will be considered for Full Membership at the next available club committee meeting.

7. DO YOU ACCOMMODATE VISITORS ?

We welcome members of other clubs who can shoot on payment of the range fee. Visits should be arranged in advance using the Contact Us page and an FAC and proof of club membership must be produced.

All other requests for visitor shooting can be made using the Contact Us page, these will be considered by the committee and responded to accordingly.

8. I DON’T HAVE ANY EQUIPMENT, IS ANY AVAILABLE ?

We have a comprehensive selection of airgun rifles and pistols and .22 rifles along with accessories such as scopes, mats, jackets, gloves and ear defenders for use by members. This enables an excellent introduction to the sport without a significant financial outlay. You will soon know if you want to invest in the sport and your longer-term future.
